Your Bio

I have been diving since 1992, but I never had any interest in cameras or photography until 2006, when I travelled to the Solomon Islands. I began taking a little Canon point and shoot with me with me every time I dove. At the end of 2007, I upgraded to a dSLR. I am currently shooting with Canon 5D MkII and Eos 7D bodies in Sea and Sea and Subal housings using Sea and Sea YS110 and 250 strobes.

Since 2010, I have worked as part of a photography and writing team with my husband, pro photographer Andy Sallmon. Andy’s educational background in marine biology and mine in journalism and veterinary medicine provide a unique perspective on our oceans and the life they hold. Individually, our work has been recognized in numerous international underwater/nature photography competitions, featured on the walls of aquariums and museums, and published in books and magazines on diving, nature, and photography. Combined, we have over 50 years of recreational and technical diving experience, with more than 10,000 dives all over the world. However, our favorite place to dive is the rich, temperate water of our home state: California.
